All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go
Before this project I had never undertaken any serious shoot. I usually just find a cool spot and fly by the seam of my pants, but this time I had a very thorough vision that stemmed from a conversation that I have a little too often in my daily life.
It usually goes something like this:
"What are you dressed up for?" "Just felt like it." "Ah business casual, ok!"

I wanted to push this idea of 'having nowhere to go'.

Why do we have to have an event, a person, a location to wear something that makes us feel good? I am my own reason. I am enough of a reason.

I wanted the images to produce a jarring juxtapostion, to make my viewers pause...and think.
Take a closer look at model vs. location. What the heck is she wearing-and here of all places? I hoped to capture other's reactions to our shoot, but alas, our students here at Amherst are much too camera shy. Or rather, much too polite to walk into my frame.
